Book Suggestions Needed

I am reading to Sydney's first grade class on Wednesday, but I have yet to choose a book. Her teacher would like us to read a book that either had special meaning to us as children or has special meaning to our children. Or, Sydney's favorite book. Or, a book that tells about our American culture.

HELP!!!

I am drawing a complete blank! Sydney's favorite books are all about princesses & Barbie. Not quite what first grade boys want to hear me read. And, I just cannot think of anything else that fits into any of the other categories.

So, I would love to hear your suggestions, if you have any. I have tomorrow & Wednesday morning to find a great book at the school library. What would you read?

My favorite is Shel Silverstein's Giving Tree, but they have all probably heard it before.

Wow- good luck finding something!
Ava likes Olivia books.
I am racking my brain trying to think of a kids' book that tells about our American culture and can't think of anything. Sorry!

Hope this helps.
I can't think of anything about American Culture that seems appropriate for kids...
Let us know what you read! I am curious.

I read Emma's favorite book to her kindergarten class, and they LOVED it! It's called "Angelina & Henry" - it's when Angelina Ballerina goes camping (something we Americans love to do!) with her cousin Henry and Uncle. Not girlie at all - really! It's actually a little bit scary, but very fun! It is still a favorite! Good luck!

hey, Amby -- I know it's too late now (my internet has been down for 2 days now!) but if you need one again when Nick gets to that grade, I'd recommend a Paul Bunyan book. I'm not at home right now so I can't go check the exact title, but it's a great American folklore written for children which makes Melea laugh...especially the part about the men strapping bacon on their feet and skating around to grease the giant skillet or where Paul drags his axe while walking across country and that's how the Grand Canyon came about. Another one she likes is Johnny Appleseed. Anyway, I hope you had a good time reading to them and we get to hear what you chose to read. Hugs and kisses to all! Aunt Jon

Good day! I saw your site when I was browsing the Internet for people who love the Philippines.

My name is LAR and I'm a Filipino. I made a site to promote the beautiful island nation of the Philippines through pictures, and I am currently inviting anybody, Filipino or not, who visited/travelled the Philippines to help build my 'Photographic Profile' page.

If you have some time to answer a few questions and share some pictures of your favorite places in the Philippines, I will create a profile for you on my site. Through this, I aim to help more travelers, photographers and people get in touch with each other and publicly share information about the Philippines.

Please visit www.philtravelphotos.com for more information.

Thank you for your time and I truly hope to hear from you. Best regards!

Welcome to the beautiful Philippines!
